Using An Electronic Pet Fence

Using an Electronic Pet Fence to Keep the Dog in the Yard

An electronic pet fence is the perfect way to allow the household dog to enjoy being outside in the yard without fear they will wander off.  Many dogs like to explore and this unfortunately will often mean that they escape over the yard fence or wall. Not only is this a concern that they will injure themselves, but also cause trouble in the neighborhood. A pet fence will be needed to ensure that the dog stays exactly where it should.

Many people try to keep the dog in the garden using traditional fences; however, these can be costly and need to be maintained.  Dogs are very intelligent, and will always find the smallest hole, or gap to escape through. The dog may be very friendly; however, to strangers it is always a bad sign to see dogs roaming the neighborhood.  They may cause trouble, encourage other dogs to escape, and injure themselves.

Finding an affordable, effective solution to keeping the dog in the outside area is essential. An electronic pet fence is often the best solution to the dog escaping problem. There are several different brands of pet fences to choose depending on the size of the yard, and the scale of the problem. This style of containment system is ideal to use in many different areas of the yard. Once the electronic pet fence is in place the dog will need to be trained, so they can understand what the warnings are for.

As the dog approaches the electronic pet fence a high pitched warning will be emitted that the dog can hear. This will often warn them to go no further; however, often some dogs try their luck, and keep approaching the boundary of the yard. As the dog crosses the pet fence they will receive a low static shock, which encourages the dog to go back. Although the electronic pet fence is effective, training is also needed!

The dog will need to be taught that approaching the boundary is wrong, and returning to the yard is ideal. By rewarding the dog for their good behavior they will want to please their owners, and will remain in the yard.  Electronic pet fences are very effective, and with the right level of training the home owner will see results very quickly. No matter what size or breed the dog is they can be trained to not cross the pet fence.

The electronic pet fence is very easy to install, and is buried in the ground to ensure that it is not seen. The yard area can remain intact, and have no visible fences to obscure the view. The pet fence is ideal for the boundary, but can also be used around plants, vegetables, and swimming pools. By installing the electronic pet fence, the dog will only be allowed in certain areas.

Although the pet fence is very easy to install some people prefer to have professionals set up the system. Once the electronic pet fence is in place the training can begin, and it is surprising how quickly the dog will pick up the new training.  The homeowner can leave the dog in confidence knowing that they will still be in the yard when they return.
