A geothermal heating and cooling system is one of the most cost efficient ways to heat and cool the home, and has grown significantly in popularity over the last seventy years. This transfer is made through closed loops containing water, refrigerant, or anti freeze solution that absorbs the heat energy. Once the liquid is heated, it gets pumped back through the system, and this process is continually repeated. Heating and cooling ducts are necessary to move the heated or cooled air into each room in the home. Finally, the heat pump is connected to a thermostat inside the home, and the pump turns on or off depending on desired house temperature.

Geothermal systems using heat pumps work quietly, last for a long period of time, require little maintenance, and do not depend on the temperature of the outside air. They are able to heat, cool, and in some cases, supply the home with hot water. Some systems are also available with two speed compressors and variable fans to provide more comfort and energy efficiency.

It is easy to see why geothermal heating and cooling systems are being chosen as the alternative to the gas and oil systems that have traditionally heated and cooled the home. This technology is the obvious choice in saving money and conserving energy.
