Employee Rewards Can Bring Great Results

By: James Becksdale

It would be nice to think that everyone at work would give their all every day but this is not the case. It doesn't mean that people are slacking off or not doing their job properly but its always likely that some employees have the ability to give more effort than they currently give. The trick for employers is how to best go about improving the work rate and effort of employees without breaking the bank. Most people would be motivated by extra money but in the current climate, this is not something that every firm can do. However, employee rewards can provide an incentive or at least provide motivation for employees to work harder.

Everyone is motivated by different things so it can be hard to find the right motivational reward to thank staff for their efforts. However, items like High Street store vouchers are a great example of employee rewards because everyone will have some use for them. People may buy very different items with their vouchers but the fact that they would all be likely to find something that they would be interested in buying with their vouchers is likely to give them motivation to work harder. It may not be the same as giving staff extra money but this can allow employees to save money by helping them get items they would normally pay for or it can serve as a way for people to treat themselves to something a bit different.

Finding the right balance in employee rewards is a very difficult thing but it can often be tailored to the line of work or based around the employee's lifestyle. If the reward scheme is set up in general it should offer something across the board that most people would at least benefit from using. If a reward was of such a niche value that if offered no incentive, very few people would be motivated by the chance of winning it or being rewarded by it. However, if employee rewards were of a tangible benefit, it is likely that a spike in performance would be noticed.

Employee rewards can also be used to say well done to staff members after a busy time or a particular stressful period. Sometimes something as small as buying the employees a coffee can make people feel appreciated, which many people want to have at work. Ensuring that staff members know their efforts are appreciated is a good way for businesses to keep employees happy.
