Most of us would like to have a massive amount of high quality "Tweeters" following us. (I know I would) And so the next several blogs I write will be devoted to everything twitter. I know most of us don't especially have time(or like) to bury are heads in books and such to learn everything. Well, I don't mind saying that I love it. It is one of my passions. That being said, I will continue to learn and glean out the relevant stuff to share with you folks. The first topic we'll tackle is...
Retweeting!
Retweeting can be a powerful feature on twitter. There is the potential of your message being retweeted hundreds and even thousands of times every time you tweet. Your probably wondering how you can make that happen right? Well, if it were that easy, everybody would be doing it! Truth be known there are some definite things to keep in mind in order to give you a better chance of that happening, and what you must do is play with them, get creative, and keep trying!
If you want more people to follow you on twitter, you must think like a fellow "tweeter". You must always consider that when they see your tweets, one of the best ways to get them to respond is to make them feel they will benefit from them. Just throwing out dribs and drabs of information is not going get it done. You must think about what it is they want and give it to them in the form of clear, high quality content. You must do it in a way that is relevant to their interests, and satisfying to them. If you don't personally have relevant information to offer at any given time, retweeting allows you to share other people's links to the relevant information your fellow tweeters are hungry for. Your fellow "tweeters" will appreciate the timely information, and so will the "tweeter" you are retweeting.
So how do you benefit? One way is the fact that your fellow "tweeters" will start to recognize you as someone they can feel confident in when clicking on a link, that the information they read is likely going to be of the high caliber they are looking for. Remember, make sure you take the time to read the information you will be retweeting and that you yourself like it. If you don't care for it likely they won't either. Your mission is to build relationships based on your ability to help them find the high quality relevant information they want and need. Another thing you can do is look at fellow "tweeters" who are in the top echelon in numbers, and see what they are retweeting. Also look to them for high quality content you can retweet as well, and make sure they have the same type of followers that you want.
Lastly, another obvious benefit is the possibility that those you retweet, will reciprocate and retweet your information. This should not just be considered a token of their appreciation, so don't expect it to happen every time. Just say thank you if they do, and keep moving forward if they don't. Remember, they too are looking for high quality relevant information and if they don't retweet your content, it may be you need to improve the quality or relevance of it. Let's face it, you shouldn't be (or have to be) retweeting other people's information just to get yours retweeted. If your information truly delivers the goods, you will get retweeted regardless.
