If you want more #followers on #twitter, follow a newbie!

Twitter is a place to do many things. I personally use it as a business vehicle but many people go on Twitter to find new friends, socialize, and so on.

Most Twitterers would agree that finding people to follow is easy. Finding those that follow back, well now that is entirely a different story. In fact, internet businesses like Tweepie are used by scores of Twitterers who simply want to unfollow all those "Tweeps" (as Tweepie refers to them) who didn't follow back. Many people consider it an insult when not followed back. Whether that is a valid way to feel or not the question still remains. How can you be sure that when you follow someone they will reciprocate and follow back?

One way is the power of newbies!!

Newbies (as the name implies) are people who are new to Twitter. They are a perfect person to follow if you want to be followed back, most of the time. Let's quickly look at the reasons why.

1. They are newbies!

Remember when you first joined Twitter how excited you felt (it still feels that way to me) when you got that first follow. Your first inclination likely was to follow that person back. That's how most Newbies to Twitter feel. In fact, many friends of Newbies that are on Twitter will tweet words of encouragement to their fellow Twitterers to follow certain Newbies, in in effort to get them new followers. Newbies want followers and more times than not they will follow you back, and fast! They are excited and want to return that excitement of making a new friend.

2. They are likely following more people than they are being followed by.

When someone first signs up with Twitter, one of the first steps Twitter throws in front of everyone these days is to follow 10 people. Most do that as Twitter pretty much makes it look like you have to. Most people don't see the "skip this step" button and just start following. After that they get the hang of it and realize that their more likely to get followed if they follow someone. Most of us know that you have a much better chance of being followed back by someone, if their follow to followed ratio is even, or better yet, they are following more than are following them. Most all newbies are following more than they are being followed by, and being in this "hungry to be followed" frame of mind, makes them follow back much more often than not!

So if you want more followers, follow newbies, you will get maximum follow back "bang" for your follow buck!
