Twitter is a great way to get the word out for your business. With Twitter, your business can be in front of potentially hundreds of thousands of potential customers each day! With that in mind, what is the best way to get the word out to your fellow Twitterers?
Some people use the hard sell pushy approach. Most of us have received the direct messages that tell us to go to their website for a great deal on this or that. We have also seen the Tweets that are clearly nothing more than an advertising ploy. But do they really work? Sometimes I guess, but the fact of the matter is that Twitter is about the "soft sell." Trying the "hard sell" and blatant "come to my blog or website" way of doing it will most likely make you look like spam and drive your followers away.
So, you may ask, what is the best way?
In two words, Article Blogging! Which is exactly what I am doing right now and why you are reading this!
You need a blog, ( I will show you how to get one just like mine for free ) and good article content that is directly related to your business. What this accomplishes is when a fellow Twitterer sees your tweet offering a free article, they will click on it and read it. At the end of the article you include some text about what you do, and now you really have a potential customer! You have provided them with something they were interested in (the article) and now they are far less annoyed about seeing what you do, than having to see your advertising tweets all day. It's like the difference between turning on the T.V. set and watching a show your interested in, as opposed to only seeing commercials. Now people generally don't really care for commercials either, but they do tolerate them because of the show they want to watch right? If you knew that there were only commercials on the T.V. and nothing else, you would likely never turn it on. People don't mind seeing your advertisement as long as you don't over do it! One or two spots at the bottom of two different advertisers is fine. Just make it brief. (Check out mine at the bottom)
